Corporal Haas Mettler of Kestrel-7 ate three apples from an Abundance Field and was burned in A.S. 196 under Martial Code 14-D. Medicine called his hunger catastrophic. At the pyre, I saw that it had not ended.

Forty-two thousand souls, a grain exchange that set prices from the Danube to the Rhine, and a harvest the world will never taste again. Kargath ate it. The Blightmarsh is all that remains, and the Blightmarsh is still hungry.
