Aras Venn led the First Shadow Court Expedition in A.S. 72. Every man returned. Venn died in an Adriatic sanitarium in A.S. 94; the phrase covering his quarters remains classified.

The leash with bread on it, sanctified for public use
Covenant is the Synod's master noun: sacred pact in sermon, enforceable belonging in ledger, bread-chain in queue, and body-debt at the Line.

The Covenant Garrison is the parish name for Rostov's six hundred defenders in A.S. 153. Supplied for three ordinary combat days, they held eleven. The roll preserves their names and records final dispositions where known.

An A.S. 201 examination of Purity's paired checkpoint watch against the Desire-Cloak: an estimated sixty per cent fewer penetrations, and the sentry's affections entered as evidence.

Directive 77-C
The holy art of leaving the enemy's sentence unfinished
Directive 77-C forbids the copying, completing, humming, tracing, staging, or correcting of the Shadow Court's Mock Liturgy. Curiosity here opens a mouth and calls it scholarship.

The eastern war's unchartered heading: the Sagittal Line, contested strip, fallen lands and supporting rear. Drax surveys the front in A.S. 201; the reports have desks, but the Theatre has no commander.

Three lost, one silent, and the capital letters remain.
The Bureau of Medicine's recorded A.S. 193 prohibition on incising Gore-Slinger sacs without full containment apparatus. Three field surgeons were lost; the fourth survived and has not spoken since.

The succession is continuous; the faces are revocable
The Synod's portrait corridor in Strasbourg keeps seven successions unbroken in paint. One canvas is black, one portrait faces the wall, and one empty chair continues its duties. The faces are revocable.

Lust uses people as material for sensation and discards them when the thrill fades. This A.S. 201 survey records Velkara's influence, greying and six Synodal remedies. The sin is the user's; the used bear none of it.

The Maldrake-Syrion Contact Zone is the Balkan strip where Wrath's furnace weather and Sloth's time-fog hold a stable hostile interface, which is Doctrine's least relaxing miracle.

The Black Census of Metz turned Ash-Mothers from trench epithet into Classification 7-F after four hundred and eleven captured Thralls were traced to one dead woman whose remains held an enemy bastion together.

The Judges
They walk without letter, without herald, and without the patience of the Bureau.
The Judges arrive without letter, try without jury, and depart without filing. The Bureau denies they exist. It has been denying this since A.S. 92. The denial requires renewal every thirty years, which is itself a kind of evidence.
